Game Plan

The Game Plan for Module 1 group project, written by all group members: Chelsea, Heiley, Sophie & Timoti.

Creating a game plan before beginning a major group project is an important step to staying organized and maintaining group harmony. The game plan consists of the preject, creative, and production stages. The group needs to have a unified mission and then use the game plan to successfully and efficiently achieve the mission. It is also useful to have a larger vision while working on the specific project to be more motivated while working. During the preject phase it is important for the group to be aware of their resources before working towards the goal. Resources can include personal traits from the different group members and larger resources from the community and surroundings. Also during the preject phase the group sets concrete deadlines, meeting schedules, and ensure the different lines of communication for the group are clear. Another factor of the preject phase is to identify potential challenges while working on the project. The creative stage involves the research and knowledge gaining to complete the project. Then the production and execution stage is what the final product needs to be including all of the details and requirements. It is also useful to identify potential opportunities that can be gained and used while doing the project that could be beneficial in the future. These steps in the game plan will help to successfully achieve the groups’ mission, along with separate individual goals decided by each group member.

For the first module, the different groups must pick a destination and identify an existing and potential target market for that destination which is a perfect exercise to use the game plan. Our group’s destination is Thailand and based on the requirements our mission is to successfully complete the assignment, earn a good mark, and to better understand target marketing. Our vision for this project is to understand the complexities of tourism target marketing and gain more information on Thailand to eventually visit the country. Our group resources include all four members different backgrounds and prospective, our courses, professors and NHTV’s resources. Our groups’ challenges include the members being from different backgrounds and speaking different languages as well as meeting deadlines and collecting efficient research. We also identified the project’s deadlines and decided on having weekly meetings based on the progression of the project. We recognized that for our creative phase we would need to find and share research articles relevant to Thailand as well as take information from the coursework to apply to the project. The production phase acknowledged that we needed a written report and to prepare for an oral exam. We also identified some opportunities that could occur while working on this project including gaining ideas for our thesis and earn experience with group work. Through creating this game plan and being organized during our project and especially knowing our resources and challenges it will make for smoother and more productive group work.
